On March 1, 2024, a roadside check of a commercial vehicle on Highway #1 turned up 22 pallets of unstamped cigarettes.

The 6.6 million unstamped cigarettes, valued at $3.3 million, were seized on Highway #1 east of Indian Head following a stop by a Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officer.

The discovery led to an Ontarian driver and passenger being taken into custody and charged by RCMP under the Criminal Code (Excise Act) and The Tobacco Tax Act.
