Brandon scored four goals in the second period and went on to beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 4-1 Saturday afternoon in Regina.

The veteran Wheat Kings spent a lot of time in the Warriors zone throughout the opening period.  They had two power-plays in the period and had a 15-4 advantage on the shot clock.

Inside the final minute of the period, Atley Calvert and Cade Hayes did a great job fighting the puck away from the Wheat Kings along their boards.

The puck came to Max Wanner at the right point, where he let a quick shot go that was tipped by Brad Ginnell for his second goal of the season.

It did not take long for the Wheat Kings to respond, as they used an odd-man rush in the final moments to get a goal from Jake Chiasson to tie the game at one heading to the first intermission.

Moose Jaw had their moments of sustained pressure in the second period, they had 13 shots and hit two posts, but were not able to drive the puck over the goal line.

Instead, the Wheat Kings took a 2-1 lead at 5:07 when Ben McCartney scored on a breakaway.  At 14:32, the Warriors turned the puck over in their zone, Brandon used the extra attack time to set up Lynden McCallum to make it 3-1.  Then at 17:20, Brandon created an odd-man rush while shorthanded, which resulted in a goal from Ridly Greig.

The third period saw the teams tighten up defensively, which limited the shots and scoring opportunities.

Neither team pick up a goal in the final twenty minutes, and the Warriors lost 4-1, pushing their current winless streak to four games.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-4 on the power-play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill.  Brandon outshot the Warriors 34-20.

Moose Jaw opens the final week of the Subway WHL Hub on Monday with their last meeting of the season against the Prince Albert Raiders.
