The Gymtastiks of Moose Jaw gymnastics club is leaving their building and stepping independently into their own space.

They're moving from the lower floor of the Hillcrest Sports Centre into a new location in the industrial part of Moose Jaw.

Club member Jamie Olmstead talked about the decision to leave, thanked the city for letting them lease the facility for years.

“That was helpful to keep the club successful,” she said. “We were just looking to get into our own space and make it a little bit smaller and a little bit more maintainable.”

They’ve started the process of moving into 2-24 Chester Road, in the newer industrial part of the city.

“We’ve had the building since the beginning of November (and) we’ve done a lot of renovations,” Olmstead said. “We’ve had to remove some walls and some electrical work needed to be done. We also needed to prime and paint almost all the walls, so we’re still in that process as of right now.”

They'll finish the fall session, and then offering winter programming in their new building after the moving-in process gets completed in December.

The relationship with the tennis club and baseball training facility was a good one.

“They were great tenants, especially during our pandemic. When we had to change a lot of policies and procedures, they were on board and willing to help,” she said. “We’ve all pulled together to make sure the building is a safe, clean space for everyone.”

Their winter schedule begins on Jan. 2, 2021.
