Delayed, but not forgotten, the Saskatchewan Health Authority has released its COVID-19 daily statistics for April 17, 2021.

New Cases:

As previously mentioned, there are 249 new cases of COVID-19 to report in the province, bringing the provincial total number of cases to 37,873.  The breakdown of areas is as follows:

  • Far North West (3),
  • Far North East (3),
  • North West (14),
  • North Central (10),
  • North East (7),
  • Saskatoon (56),
  • Central West (12),
  • Central East (8),
  • Regina (73),
  • South West (18),
  • South Central (8) and
  • South East (29) zones.  

Eight new cases have pending residence information.

Also of note, the total number of recoveries and the total number of active cases is not available for the day.

192 people are in hospital, with 145 of those in inpatient care and 47 in intensive care.

There were also 2 new deaths reported.  The first a resident in the 40-49 age range from the Central East region, and the second an 80+ resident from the North West.


Variants of Concern (VOC)

4,529 cases of Variant of Concern COVID-19 have been identified in the province.

Vaccine Delivery Update:

10,490 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the province.  That brings the total number of vaccines delivered to 334,063.
