Update: They raised over $6000 total, and the 3 major prize winners were mayor Fraser Tolmie who won a Riot Kayak and Paddle, Nikolina Kapovic won an 11-foot Inflatable Riot Paddleboard & Paddle and Greg Kotschorek took home a 10-foot Infllatable Riot Paddleboard & Paddle.

Out in the heat on Sunday was the Kayak for Kidsport event. Through many sponsors and local families, money was raised for kids in Moose Jaw who can't afford to play sports. The event saw people cruising the Wakamow river in kayaks and canoes, allowing anyone to try it out and register for the summer clubs.

John Eberl, Chairperson of Kidsport Moose Jaw, spoke on the event.

"Wakamow Valley is a hidden gem, and we've partnered with Bo and with some of the service clubs and businesses in town, to raise funds for Kidsport Moose Jaw, and to provide Families with an outing. If they've never been on a canoe or a kayak, they can try it for free with registration."

Eberl said the morning raised upwards of $4000 from the corporate challenge alone, the full amount is not yet known from community donations.

"One thing that happened early on that just put everything right in place was the Kinsmen Club. We had some great sponsors, Kinsmen Club came through as the major sponsor for the event, so it's really the Kinsmen Kayak for Kidsport. Then secondly, Saskwater came on in a big way and they're providing funding for the corporate challenge."

Eberl also said that the free breakfast at the event was sponsored by Nexus Solar, and explained the corporate challenge going on later in the day. The challenge involved 15 boats, all racing through a challenge course for the title and $500 to Kidsport in their name, and $500 to any other charity, which was sponsored by Saskwater.

"We're an important part of the community in terms of kids, families, and the sports organizations in Moose Jaw. Because, for example, last year, 2018, we funded 198 kids and families to the tune of $42,000." Said Eberl, who explained their purpose in the city. "Our goal is to put kids in sports so all kids can play.
