All information provided by Saskatchewan RCMP:

Halfway through the 2018 Country Thunder music festival, and things have been relatively quiet for Saskatchewan RCMP patrolling the event.

Saskatchewan RCMP would like to remind everyone that we are conducting enforcement not just on the event grounds, but on the surrounding roadways, targeting impaired driving. SGI has a number of shuttles to and from the event and a number of taxi companies are offering service to and from the event. There’s no excuse for impaired driving.

RCMP will also be increasing their attention to minors who are consuming liquor at the festival site. A reminder that minors who are caught consuming alcohol could face a fine of $360.00

Here are today’s stats:

Total of 44 calls for service since 7:00 a.m. Friday morning, which brings our total of calls for service so far to 75  calls for the festival.

Of the 44 calls, there were several liquor act related offences resulting in 3 youth under the age of 19 being charged for possession and consumption of alcohol. One impaired driver was arrested and charged on highway #20 at the festival site. RCMP also located and arrested an adult male who was wanted on several Criminal Code warrants originating out of Meadow Lake RCMP Detachment.

RCMP were required to arrest and lodge 11 people bringing the total arrests to 24 for the weekend. RCMP again wish to remind the public to have a great time at the festival, however, drink responsibly and please remember to hydrate with water as the temperature will again be very high today.

During the same period, Combined Traffic Services (CTSS) conducted multiple traffic stops resulting in 75 charges under the traffic safety act, 122 warnings were issued, and 1 impaired driver was arrested and charged.
