Saskatchewan has been known to have some pretty rough winters, to say the least, and that should make growing tropical fruit impossible, but not for a very determined Central Collegiate Teacher.

Mr. Ray Rawlyk has done it not once but twice now as his pineapple plant is sprouting for the second time.

Rawlyk detailed more about his pineapple.

"This is the second generation pineapple, the first one I had to take off in 2016 so it's been three and a half years since the last one. This one will be ready in about three months I'd say."

Rawlyk is quite thrilled to try the pineapple in a few months and said it's like nothing you've ever had before.

He continued, expressing satisfaction at the whole situation.

"I just thought it was kind of appropriate given our bad streak of cold weather where we were colder than Antarctica, I looked it up, and so having a pineapple growing in minus 40-degree weather is kind of ironic."

Rawlyk added that he can't wait to plant the pineapple again in a few months to see if it will grow again.
