Producers taking part in Cropportunities 2017 had a chance to learn more about Fababean production.

Bryan Nybo the Farm Manager for Wheatland Conservation says Fababean was a good fit last year with the wet weather.

He says one of the trials they ran looked at 5 different seeding rates for the crop noting they used the Snowdrop variety and reviewed the canopy, emergence and yield.

"It appears that the 60 seeds per sq. meter rate that we used did better than the rest, the lower seeded rates were not quite as good and the yield kept increasing as seeding rates

as you got to the 60 and then they started to decline again."

They also looked at the Effect of  Phosphorus on Fababean and found they had the best response at 25 kilograms per hectare.
