122 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday, including 3 new variant cases.
Two residents in the Regina zone have tested positive for the UK variant, and one resident in the north-central zone has tested positive for the South African variant. Based on the contact investigation to date, there is no link to travel at this time but public health's investigation is on-going.
There is also a presumptive case of the UK variant in one individual in Saskatoon. The individual was transferred from out of province to Saskatoon for acute care, and testing is being done to confirm the results.
Four deaths were also reported Tuesday. Three deaths were reported in the 80+ age group from the Regina (2) and Saskatoon (1) zones and one death in the 70-79 age group from the Regina zone.
Of the new cases, 37 are located in Regina, 25 in Saskatoon, 16 in the far northeast, 11 in the far northwest, 10 in the northwest, seven in the central-east, five in the far north-central, four in the north-central, two in the northeast, one in the southeast, and there were no new cases in the south-central zone. Four cases are pending resident information.
Of the 27 cases located in the South-Central zone, 25 are in the sub-region 'South-Central 2', which is comprised of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area.
244 recoveries were also announced and 1,530 cases are considered active.
174 people are in hospital with 158 receiving inpatient care, and 16 are in intensive care.
