Members of 15 Wing are going to be out in the community over the next couple of days, bagging groceries and helping raise money for the Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign (GCWCC).

Cpt. Joshua Thomas with 15 Wing said there will be lots of opportunities for residents in Moose Jaw to get involved, just by shopping.

"This year our plan is to be at Safeway and Superstore Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 10 am-6 pm and our members will be volunteering their time to bag groceries. We're looking for support from the local community to donate."

"If residents want to help out they can definitely come by and donate at either Superstore or Safeway over the next four days, or if they would like to donate via Sarcan they can just drop off their bags and type in the code '2019GCWCC'. We're just really happy to give back to the local community."

All donations raised will be split between 3 different organizations. The GCWCC encourages federal public service employees and retirees to help raise funds and donate time for those in need.

"This year we are splitting it equally between 211 Helpline Saskatchewan, local grade-level reading initiatives, and to help partners in our community. Last year 15 Wing was able to raise $26,000, so this year we are hoping with the support of the community and members on base, we can raise even more."

Last year, the campaign helped more than 5,600 charities across Canada.
