The earliest the province could begin the two-part "Step 3" of the Re-opening Roadmap is July 11. While the first phase of Step 3 could very well start on time, the second part - which is the removal of all public health guidelines and gathering restrictions - will most likely be delayed.

According to the numbers in Thursday's provincial COVID-19 update, just over 7,000 first doses need to be administered to reach the first phase of Step 3, which would see all remaining public health restrictions removed, except for limits on gathering sizes and indoor masking.

However, in order to remove all public heath restrictions including masking and limits on gathering sizes, approximately 25,000 first doses still need to be administered.

Currently, 69% of those 18 and over have been vaccinated, and 68% of those 12 and up. Both of those numbers need to increase to 70% in order to reach the government's thresholds.

Luckily, there will be lots of opportunities in the coming days for Moose Jaw and area residents to receive their first dose.
