Update:

It was scheduled to take place betwen 11:30 AM through until 1 PM Tuesday September 10th, but the weather has altered the plan.

Sargeant Pilsworth said they will announce the new date as soon as the weather dries up.

"Obviously very disappointed that we're not able to go ahead today, but we look forward to doing it in the very near future. It's just way too wet out, and the point of our barbecue is to welcome the community, reach out to the community, and be able to have some good connections."

Everything from interactive displays, to the K-9 unit will be out in downtown Moose Jaw.

The 2nd annual Moose Jaw police community BBQ is a chance to take in some presentations, grab a free lunch, meet the men and women who protect the community of Moose Jaw and everyone is welcome to attend.

Sargent Kevin Pilsworth with the police service, on why they enjoy holding these events.

"It's a chance for us to engage with the community and get out. Rather than just have people come into the police service when they need our help, it's our chance to get out into the community and have a chance to connect with everyone. It's a chance for us to host a little get together, and have the people of Moose Jaw come out, join us, and see a little bit about what we're all about."

This year the barbecue is in conjunction with their board meeting that will be taking place at the Moose Jaw library at 1 PM, said Pilsworth. "So to kick things off we're going to have our community barbecue down in Crescent Park at the Amphitheatre. that's going to take place from 11:30 AM right up until 1 PM."

There's no charge to attend, and the hot dogs and beverages are also free to all who attend.
