You know I like to take those trips down memory lane.  I took two trips yesterday.

It was just after 6am when the telephone rang at the station and my old friend Ron Newans was on the line.  Ron's uncle Ken, of course, got his start in sportscasting here at CHAB.  Ron grew up in Moose Jaw and laced 'em up with the CHAB Good Guys and Gals hockey team back in the 1980s.  He just called to say "Hello."  That's nice, isn't it?

Then, later in the day, the supper time newscast from Global Regina featured the station's 30th anniversary.  It was September 1987 when STV showed up on channel 5 on our televisions.  Remember that?  Jill Krop anchored the news while Warren Woods and Ron Rimer hosted SportsLine every night at 11 o'clock.  They were a big deal. They'd come on our radio shows and they'd have us on TV.  It was awesome.

Those were good days spent with good people.  We didn't know how good it was.  I think we all do now.

Thanks for the call, Ron Newans.  Thanks for 30 years, Global Regina.
