The 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon will hit the airwaves for 36 hours in its 17th year on May 4-5 at the Town n’ Country Mall.

This year our goal is to raise $150,000 for the Moose Jaw Health Foundation which will go towards new equipment at the Dr. F.H.Wigmore Regional Hospital.

Over the last 16 years the radiothon has raised $4,809,384 for the hospital, and Kelly McElree, with the Health Foundation, could not thank the community enough for the continuous support.

“Amazing support from businesses, individuals, and service club organizations throughout the city and surrounding communities that support the radiothon,” says McElree. “We see people come to the radiothon every single year, even through the pandemic, they would come up to the mall because it’s so important to them.”

“The lives that have been saved with the absolute generosity of people in this community. This year is so fun and exciting and I encourage businesses to get involved,” adds McElree.

Last year $159,914 was raised for the women’s health and pediatric units to be able to buy new equipment.

This year the funds will be earmarked for the hospital’s Emergency Room (ER) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“The type of equipment that we're looking for is a critical care bed, which is used in the ICU for many different types of patients. Also, a glidescope for the ER, when someone has difficulty breathing, the scope can be inserted.”

“We also need a Pedoff Ultrasound Probe, a QuickThaw Plasma System, and we also need very specialized pediatric critical care nurse training for children that come into the ER.”

The radiothon wouldn’t be able to function without the long list of volunteers that help make it possible.

The Health Foundation is in need of volunteers for this year’s Radiothon. Those that are interested in volunteering can contact the Health Foundation at 306-694-0373. More information about this year's Radiothon can be found HERE

McElree along with the whole Moose Jaw Health Foundation would like to thank the community in advance for their support of the 17th annual 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon.
