The Moose Jaw Civic Election is just a few days away and its time for another look at some of the candidates for Moose Jaw City Council. In this edition Mary-Dell Findlay and Tristan Hill.

Can you believe it? It feels like just last week we were telling you the deadline for nominations had arrived and we were looking at 22 candidates for Moose Jaw City Council and 3 for Mayor.

Now, there are just 9 days until we decide who will lead our city for the next three years. Three years where a lot of changes are expected.

A very community minded resident is hoping to lead our community as Mary-Dell Findlay is running for Moose Jaw City Council.

Findlay is one of 22 candidates on the ballot and has a lot of things she wants to address if elected. "In my door to door canvassing there have been many comments made about city infrastructures. Things like snow removal, street paving, the airport, back lane graveling, and the landfill. Residents and businesses want to feel that they receive good value for their taxes. My pledge is to be as careful and fair as I can be."

Findlay is a strong supporter of the multiplex project and wants to see hockey, curling, soccer and other sports included but would like more information when it comes to location.

Findlay has lived in Moose Jaw for 34 years with 26 years spent a registered nurse with the 5 Hills Health Region. "I was employed at the Moose Jaw Union Hospital so quality health care is important to me. As a city councillor I will work to make sure that the Union Hospital addition progresses in a timely fashion. This will help to make Moose Jaw as attractive as possible for health care professionals."

Findlay is looking for her first term as a city councillor.

Also looking for his first term on city council is Tristan Hill, a local realtor.

He believes there are several issues that need attention in this civic election like repairing streets and sidewalks as well as our aging population. "We also have an important population in Moose Jaw and that group being our senior citizens. You guys helped build our city to what it is now. If elected I would stand for more affordable housing for seniors. Some seniors are on a limited fixed income and feel that affordable housing is an important responsibility of our city."

Hill believes Moose Jaw is the best place to raise a family and is ready to work hard to keep the city growing. And that includes work on the multiplex project. "I am a supporter of a true multi use complex that will house a hockey stadium, curling facility, indoor soccer pitches, and training facilities for young and old as well as doubling as a concert and convention centre. Providing that it is build properly we should build it now."

In just 9 days we will vote for 6 councillors out of a possible 22 candidates and for a mayor out of 3 candidates.
