At approximately 1:15 p.m. this afternoon, local homeowner Sarah Peters heard a loud smashing sound and skidding tires.

A westbound vehicle had failed to stop at the intersection of 10th Ave. and Lillooet, plowing into the driver's side of a southbound vehicle.

Emergency crews quickly responded to the collision, taking the driver of the westbound vehicle to hospital with minor and non-life-threatening injuries. The other driver walked away unscathed.

Peters says that this is the first time in over a decade that an accident has occurred at the corner of 10th and Lillooet but that she is surprised that they don't happen more often. She reports that very few drivers actually heed the stop sign and regularly speed through the residential area.
