Federal election day is coming up in just over two weeks, and there are alternatives in place for you to cast your ballot before then.

Elections Canada reminds us that advance polls will be open October 9th thru 12th, and if those dates still won't work, Regional Media Advisor Marie-France Kenney says there's no time like the present.

"People can go and vote now at their local Elections Canada office. You need to bring the proper identification and you can also vote by mail. If you plan on being away, you can go online and put in the request to vote by mail, no later than October 13th at 6:00PM."

Kenney says your voter card will have the information you need.

"They were mailed at the end of last week. By early next week, almost everyone should have their cards and if not, they can call their local office to make sure they're registered, or you can check online."

She adds that if you want a few hours work, they could use some election manpower.

"We're still looking for people to work the advanced polls for the four days from October 9th to the 12th. You can apply online and look at all the positions and what their pay is as well."

For the rest of us, we go to the polls on October 19th.
