Michael Haygarth, a 5-year resident in Moose Jaw, is running for Mayor.

He moved here with his family to continue his 20-year long career as an aircraft maintenance engineer.

He currently works for Magellan Aerospace, on the Snowbird Aircraft engines.

He is also a member of the Moose Jaw Flying Club, volunteers with the Air Cadets, and co-coaches the Biathlon.

Haygarth is looking to rebuild the community bond, "Right now things seem to be really tough for the world and Canada in itself, so our sense of community seems to be waining a little bit and I just think that needs to be brought back in a stronger way."

He plans to try and install more public resources and help people struggling with mental health and addictions.

Along with those issues, he'd also like to address the petty crime in the city.

As for city infrastructure and road maintenance and repairs, he wants to focus on where the money could go to make efficient progress and how to keep the public aware of how the tax dollars are being spent.

Haygarth told us that his work experience will make him a great fit for the job, "I've been trained for the last 20 years to fix problems," he wants to apply his leadership and keen problem-solving skills to the position of Mayor.

Voting for the by-election is on November 3rd.
