Alliance Health is giving residents another option for those with a New Year’s Resolution to get into shape or lose weight.

Along with its medical clinic and addiction services, Alliance Health recently opened a fitness facility to bring physical and mental wellness under one umbrella. The new gym opened in September and held its grand opening event this week.

Kyra Klassen is the fitness director for Alliance Health and Fitness. She said they are a fully-staffed gym with the hopes of expanding in the near future.

“Our plan is to extend into physiotherapy as well as nutrition and kinesiology and our healthy weights initiative that took place a couple of years ago, to get that all up and running now that COVID is kind of gone and out of people's minds and people are looking to get back into things,” she said.

What about those looking to shed a few pounds in the New Year? Klassen said she recommends signing up with a buddy.

“People are way more successful when you join with a friend, so we're really pushing that right now with our grand opening and encouraging people to sign up, either with a family member or a child or a friend or a coworker just to hold each other accountable and see better results obviously that way,” she said.
