Sask Polytechnic celebrated the 60th Anniversary of the Architectural Technology program over the weekend.

Angela Deans is the Program Head for Architectural Technology.

"The program was started in 1959 by an architect, Sid Diamond who was part of a team of people who approached the Government about getting an Architectural Drafting Program in Moose Jaw. And so the first intake was in 1959 that makes our first graduating class 1961."

Deans also described just how important the program is.

"The program at Sask Polytechnic has a very wide reaching reputation across the country as one major training points for architectural technologists for Canada and certainly western Canada"

Deans also added that it's unusual for a program thats 60 years old to have such a strong legacy with just 4 program heads since 1959.
