Self-employed Saskatchewan artists could see an income boost in the near future.

Culture, Youth and Recreation Minister Glenn Hagel made an announcement regarding legislation that supports required written contracts between artists and those who require their services.

"I'm pleased to announce today that we will be taking first steps outlined in the committees report to improve the financial security and predictability for Saskatchewan's artists."

Minister Hagel announced that the legislation will be introduced sometime this fall.

The announcement was made Friday morning as part of the 10th annual Festival of Words in Moose Jaw.
