The Moose Jaw Canadians won 11-2 last night over the Piapot North Stars to clinch first place in Regina's Rambler Park men's Fastball League.

While Canadians pitcher Blake Dixon threw a solid game against Piapot, he's one of three pitchers the Canadians can turn to in the playoffs, along with Xavier Tremblay and Dean Holoien.

"We're pretty fortunate we have three guys that we feel comfortable throwing at any time," said Dixon. "We'll see how harvest goes with some guys not being able to make it there."

Dane Roy was solid at the plate, getting a double, a single and three RBI. Brad Reaney hit a solo home run and went 2-for-3 on the day.

With the playoffs just around the corner, Dixon felt it was good to get that last win under their belts.

"We've had a few wins back to back here coming into the playoff, and it's too bad we don't get to play at home for the hometown crowd here," he said. "It's a little bit different here with the tournament style compared to other years but we're excited."

The Giants won their game last night as well, a 10-0 triumph over the Highway 22 Cowboys, with the game ending after four due to the mercy rule.

Larry Childs didn't allow a run in his four innings of work pitching for the Giants, as he induced a lot of fly ball outs.  Giants left fielder Tyler Kifferling hit a two-run home run, and Terry Danberg went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The Rambler Park playoffs start Monday night with the third-place Giants taking on the last place Regina Gold at Kaplan Field.

The Canadians will play Wednesday night in one of the semifinals against the winner of the Monday match between the Golden Hawks and the Standing Buffalo Dakotas.

All of the playoff games will be in Regina.
