A busy building permit report for the month of April was released by the City of Moose Jaw, but it didn’t translate into more dollars spent than April 2018.  

There were 20 building permits issued by the city last month for a total value of $554,000, but that was almost $393,890 less than what was spent in April 2018. 

The most extensive alteration and improvements were $183,000 in renovations at Central Collegiate and  $128,000 to a maintenance building at GATX Rail Canada at 2200 Caribou Street WestIn total 2019 has been busier, with 56 permits issued and a total of $7,145,725 spent, compared to $4,757,890 last year. 

In addition to the increase in renovation permits, the city has received almost double the amount of new dwelling units this year, than for the same period last year.

In the city’s building permits report from April, there have been permits for 11 new dwellings in 2019, for a total of $3,710,305, compared to six units $1,952,850 in January to April 2019.

There were no building permits for new dwellings issued in April, but the previous three months made up for it.
