Moose Jaw Warriors forward Atley Calvert has been named the Western Hockey League’s Player of the Week for the week ending on Jan. 8.

Calvert, 19, led the lead with five goals and three assists for eight points this past week, as the Warriors earned five out of possible six points in the standings.

He matched a career-best four points in the Warriors’ 5-3 road win over the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Jan. 4.

Calvert would then score the Warriors’ lone goal in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Calgary Hitmen two nights later.

Rounding out the week, Calvert had two goals and an assist on Saturday as the Warriors defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 6-2.

Calvert has already surpassed his career best in points in a season with 41.

On Tuesday, Calvert and the Warriors are back in action when they take on the Edmonton Oil Kings to begin a two-game Alberta road swing.
