The Moose Jaw 18U AAA Canucks picked up their third win of the season in dramatic fashion, defeating the White Butte Broncos 9-8 in extra innings on Tuesday night at Ross Wells Park.

Both teams got off to quick starts, but it was Moose Jaw that held an 8-5 lead after four innings. White Butte would reply with three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game. Innings six and seven went scoreless to force extra innings.

After the Broncos went three-up-three-down in the top of the eighth, Caleb Newkirk walked in the bottom half of the inning to score Nathan Varjassy for the walk-off victory.

Varjassy got the start on the mound for the Canucks, going four innings. He only allowed four hits while striking out five batters.

The 18U AAA Canucks are back in action on Thursday when they host the South East Twins at 7 p.m. at Ross Wells Park.
