It's kinda fun at first but then it gets annoying - the back-to-school photos on social media.

The parents of today love to show off their kids and celebrate them.  I get it but I'm seeing a number of people from Generation X and Baby Boomers making fun of it.

One of my friends writes, "In my day, we just went to school...for us it was eat your breakfast and get walking - no pics for us."

I believe I only posed for one back-to-school photo when I was a boy and that was my very first day of school - kindergarten in September of 1970.  We lived on Coldwell Road in Regina, and I would attend Sherwood School.  I remember that morning clearly.  Some of the neighbour kids posed with me as my mom snapped a shot with the Kodachrome.

I still have that photo.  It's a black and white.  Apparently, we weren't worthy of the colour film.  I know we had some.  But it's OK.  I'm not sour.  I remember the cardigan I was wearing was navy blue.
