The Canadian Press shared the story just after 3:30 yesterday afternoon.  The headline:  "Canada Surpasses 10,000 Deaths from COVID-19"

The report tells me that two reported fatalities in Alberta pushed "the national tally to 10,001".

You probably know some people who believe this is just another flu bug.  Perhaps you believe that too.  I don't.  I'm looking at the impact of H1-N1 on Canada today.  At its peak, the "swine flu" infected just over 33,000 Canadians with 428 deaths.  The death toll was just over 500 over the course of about 5 years.  COVID-19 is different.

Oh, we were on the right track.  You'll recall case counts did slow down over the summer but that has changed this autumn.  We're recording new daily highs in some regions including Western Canada.

It was shortly after the Canadian Press broke the story that The National Post shared its story - reaction from Prime Minister Trudeau.  The headline for that one?  "The COVID-19 pandemic 'really sucks,' and Christmas is now in jeopardy, Trudeau warns"

I was dumbfounded when I read that but, then, amused when Conservative Senator Denise Batters shared that story on Twitter.  She commented, "It's like having Spicoli as Canada's Prime Minister."
