While we have some glimmers of hope we're also facing reality this week.  Some of our traditional spring and summer activities are already being postponed and, in some cases, canceled due to this COVID-19 pandemic.

Normally at this time of year we'd be gearing up for Little League, fastball and slo-pitch.  The school kids would be competing at track and field meets and we'd be looking forward to the outdoor pool season.  There's a chance none of that will happen in 2020.

Some hard news was delivered this week at Moose Jaw City Hall.

City Manager Jim Puffalt explained some tough decisions need to be made in the coming days.

He said, "The outdoor pool...there's a month involved in getting that ready.  We're seeing places are dropping off programs and events happening for July...The playground program...we don't know that we'll be able to put that many people together in one place and so it may be one that we can decide fairly quickly to eliminate."

Spray parks and sports fields are also likely to be sitting empty well into the summer.

I'm predicting we'll see a lot more family bike rides and backyard barbecues this year.
