Nods of approval, all around, after the Moose Jaw and District Sports Hall of Fame announced its inaugural induction class on Friday.

Five athletes and one team will be inducted;  Hockey Hall of Famer Clark Gillies, a 4-time Stanley Cup winner with the New York Islanders;  Olympic swimmer Mike Mintenko, Olympic wrestler Justin Abdou, Saskatchewan Roughrider great Scott Schultz and paralympic athlete Lisa Franks are the athletes to be inducted.  The 1985 Moose Jaw Generals, who won the Hardy Cup, the national senior hockey championship, will be inducted in the team category.

As you might expect, the talk now has turned to who else should be inducted.  The answer?  Nominate!  We are being encouraged to nominate athletes, teams and builders for consideration.

In the meantime, the local sports community is invited to the inaugural induction dinner.  It's going to be at Mosaic Place on Friday, November 6th.

I'll see you there.
