I got text messages, e-mails and a phone call early yesterday afternoon from people who were listening to The Heartland at Noon on CHAB.  They were reacting to a most heart-warming visit I had with Laurie and Derek Freeman of Moose Jaw.

The local couple, unable to have their own children, set out to adopt years ago and the process took them to an orphanage in Ukraine where they fell in love with two little boys and their sister.  Karl, Sebi and little girl Iboya will celebrate their first Canadian Christmas this weekend.

Laurie and Derek shared their story while their three, beautiful children sat quietly in the CHAB studio, wide-eyed, content and happy.

We talked about some photos Derek shared on social media earlier this year.  One of the little ones on the day they left the orphanage - their cute, little faces with trepidation written all over them.  Beside that photo another one taken four months later here in Moose Jaw- their faces full of hope and happiness.

Derek and I got a little choked up when we talked about that.

It was minutes later a friend of mine sent a text that read, "If you don't get a tear in your eye, you may not have a heart."
