Some are just closed.  Doors locked.  Lights out.  Most of them have no choice.  If a local business is in the "non essential" category, it's out of business right now.

Our federal government has unveiled its Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy.  Will it be enough?

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business is asking that question.

They found our small businesses are divided on how helpful it'll be with "29% saying it will help them avoid further layoffs or recall staff, 37% saying it will not help them..."

The CFIB found only 19% of businesses are open these days, down from 21% last week.

Even those businesses saying the subsidy will be helpful will be struggling, with just 35% saying they'll be able to retain all staff.

What can we do?  Well, do our best to support local, independent business.  Stay tuned to your radio to find out which business are still open and check out BringMeBasics.com where you'll find local shops offering safe delivery of some every day products we need.

We're in this together, right?
