You and I both know that sitting on city council would be a major commitment.

I'm learning just putting your name on the ballot is a big job.

The City of Moose Jaw's website features everything you need to know in advance of the upcoming civic election.

In fact, the "Information for Candidates" section is 63 pages long.  First, you've got to learn about responsibilities and qualifications.  From there, it's four pages of nomination information including procedures and the deposit.

Then you learn about the rules;  the code of ethics, campaign expense limits and public disclosure statement requirements.

Down on page 29 you find the "Candidate's Checklist".  There are 13 boxes to check off there.

Yesterday was the first day that Moose Jaw City Hall was accepting official nomination papers.  I see in the "Who's Running" section it reads;  "Information on the candidates running in the 2020 election will be added here as nomination papers are received."

There are no names there yet.  They're probably still reading the 63 page information section.
