Carnie's Comments

It's Throwback Thursday as we take a look back on 100 years of broadcasting at CHAB - Moose Jaw.

You know, from cups and mugs to watches and broaches, many local listeners and former employees have CHAB keepsakes they treasure.  People like Glen Knutson who recently dropped in and dropped off a gold pen, decorated with a little CHAB microphone as the clip.

He also wrote us a note which reads, in part, "Back in the day my grandfather was sitting at the lunch counter at Kresge's...and a gentleman sat beside him and asked if he had a notepad he could use.  My grandfather had one...When the gentleman was done, he gave him back the notepad and gave him his pen as a thanks.  After the man left my grandfather asked the young lady working if she knew his name."

"She said, 'His name is Cy Knight'.

Cy Knight, of course, was a local legend who spent parts of four decades on the air at CHAB.

Knutson wrote, "In 1985 my grandfather passed away and the pen was given to me.  I have had it on my dresser since.  It is time for it to return where it came from.  Happy 100th anniversary!"
