It's Throwback Thursday and we're going back 39 years today when we were getting ready to watch our new Western Hockey League Club, the Moose Jaw Warriors.

It was 1984 when a large group of local investors brought the Warriors to Moose Jaw from Winnipeg. Many of us remember it well.

The high energy excitement, the personalities, the blood, sweat and tears - oh, the stories we can tell about our history.

A major junior hockey club that started with a couple of coaches, a trainer, two girls in the office and a group of scouts who worked for mileage and food has turned into a fully staffed, professional organization in a world-class arena we call the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Times have changed, the game has changed - we've all changed but one thing that's still the same is the passion local and local-area hockey fans have for our community-owned Western Hockey League club.

It's time to celebrate our 40th season of Warriors Hockey in Moose Jaw.

I'll see you at the home opener on Saturday night.
