The Kindergarten class at Sacred Heart was encouraged to dress up like their favourite book character

Today is Family Literacy Day, kicking off Literacy Week in Saskatchewan.  Schools across the province stress reading on a daily basis, but use this week to re-emphasize the importance of reading, not only alone, but making it a family activity.  We stopped by Sacred Heart school in Moose Jaw and peeked into the Kindergarten class, as some of the kids dressed

as their favourite book character.  CHAB's Craig Hemingway spoke to some of the kids who were dressed up

Golden West announcer Teagan Witko read "The Younger Brother's Survival Guide" by Lisa Kopelke to the Sacred Heart Grade Two class

Teagan caught up with Sacred Heart teacher Colleen Mitchell and Principal Justin Clewis to talk about the importance of Literacy Week.
