Four games hit the court on Wednesday night in the Moose Jaw High School Junior Basketball League and four different schools walked away with wins.

In the doubleheader at Vanier Collegiate, the Red Vikings opened the night by knocking off the Riverview/Cornerstone Royals, 92-74, in the junior boys league.

Rayann Cabrel scored 23 points to lead the way for the Red Vikings in the win, while DJ Agapay added 20 and Nathan Meili picked up 17 points.

The Royals’ Riley Marshall exploded for 42 points in the loss, while Reymond Tallud chipped in with 27 points for Riverview/Cornerstone.

Vanier opens the season 1-0 with the win, while the Royals drop to 1-1 on the year.

The Red Vikings will return to the court on Monday to face the Peacock Orange Toilers, while Riverview/Cornerstone don’t return to game action until Jan. 10.

The second game of the doubleheader at Vanier saw the Peacock Toilers register a 56-50 win over the host Spirits.

Caitlyn Miller led all scorers with 28 points as Peacock improved to 2-0 on the year. Sadie Ward added eight points and Abby Grund scored six in the win.

Vanier dropped to 1-1 with the loss. Madison Miller led them with 12 points, while Gracie Bzdel added 10 and Bryn Giddings had eight points.

The Spirits will travel out to Assiniboia to face the Rockets on Monday, while Peacock returns to the court after the holiday break when they face Central on Jan. 8.

The Cornerstone Falcons hosted the Central Butte Bulldogs on Wednesday and pulled off a 41-32 win.

Grace Geradts led all scorers with 15 points in the win for the Falcons, while Trista Lang chipped in with six points.

The Bulldogs were led by Desrae Miller, who scored 11 points, while Inga Tittamore finished with five in the loss.

Cornerstone moves into first place at 2-0 with the win and Central Butte drops to 1-1.

Both teams are off until after the holidays with Cornerstone facing Vanier on Jan. 10, while Central Butte is off until Jan. 15 against Central.

The Central Red Cyclones rolled to a big 80-31 win over the Bulldogs out in Central Butte in junior boys action on Wednesday.

Lucas Dyck paced the attack for Central with 17 points in the win, while Carl Martel had 18 points for the Bulldogs in the loss.

Central Red opens the season at 1-0 and Central Butte drops to 0-2 to start the campaign.

The Red Cyclones will battle the Peacock Green Toilers on Monday to wrap-up their pre-Christmas schedule. Central Butte is off until Jan. 8 when they head to Vanier to face the Red Vikings.
