A City of Moose Jaw employee escaped injury after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon according to a Moose Jaw Police Service report. It took place at 10th Avenue Southwest and Grandview Street.

The city says a vehicle drove past a “Road Closed” barricade and entered a worksite where the employee was hit.

Motorists are being reminded to take caution when driving through construction zones.

In particular, if there is a “Road Closed” sign and barricade are up, the entire road is closed even if one lane appears to be open. If a lane is open, the speed limit through construction zones in the city is 30 km/h.

According to the city’s traffic bylaws, the penalties for speeding through a construction zone are $240 plus $6 for each km/h over the speed limit and $12 for each km/h over the speed limit for speeds over 30 km/h over the speed limit.
