The City of Moose Jaw is looking to contract out the duties of the Board of Revision.

The Board of Revision is a board independent of city council that hears property assessment appeals and makes impartial decisions.

In a statement the city said the following:

The matter was discussed during closed Executive Committee Monday. Council directed Administration to bring a public report to the next regular meeting, May 24. The Mayor and City Manager will be available that night to answer any questions (from the media) related to the report and any decision of Council.

The Board of Revision members is paid positions that are comprised of no less than three citizens-at-large. Members are paid $150 per day for hearings and writing decisions. Panel chairs are paid $200 per day and the chair of the board is paid $250 per day.

Members sit on the board for two-year terms.

There is no word yet on how much contracting the services out will cost the city.
