Kim Neithercut comes home after a three-run homer in the third inning against the Slammers on Tuesday.

Kim Neithercut was all the Colts needed to tie up the Senior Ladies Fastball League city final on Tuesday night at Caribou Heights.

Neithercut went 2-for-3 with two runs and a three-run homer to lead the Colts to a 5-3 win over the Slammers in Game 2 of the best-of-five series.

The Slammers had went up 2-1 in the top half of the third inning on a two-run single by Jen Weins, but Neithercut would blast a three-run shot over the left field fence in the bottom half of the inning to put the Colts up for good.

"We got up to bat and just tried to be relaxed, we got nothing to lose, we're down a game and we're just hoping we weren't going to be down two," said Neithercut.

The Colts would tack on one more in the sixth to perserve the win.

Neithercut also picked up the complete game win on the mound, striking out four while giving up nine hits.  She says she was able to keep the Slammers off-balance all game, "I threw lots of off speed and so you get lots of not maybe quite so hard hits and our defence was a little tighter."

The Colts committed only one error in Game 2 after posting four in their 7-6 Game 1 loss on Monday.  "That has been the difference with these guys all year is our defence has not been at it's best and it's hurt us everytime, so it was better (in Game 2).

"They've got great bats and if our bats stay good, that's going to be the difference is the defence," added Neithercut.

Game 3 of the city finals goes on Wednesday night, 6:30pm at Caribou Heights.
