The Moose Jaw Community Players is looking for people to get involved in local theatre.

The group is hosting an open house this Saturday at the Moose Jaw Cultural Centre starting at 7 pm and going until about 9 pm.

President Crystal Milburn says, in addition to acting, there are lots of other positions available.

"Obviously, we're putting on plays so we need people to be on the stage but it's totally okay if acting is not your thing. There are 100 different jobs that go into putting on a successful play. Acting is only the tip of the iceberg. We need people with organizational skills. We need people who can build sets, who can help us put on our productions. Everything from putting up posters, to helping us find costume pieces or prop pieces or running lights and sound. There's a thousand things to do."

She notes the Community Players normally host a couple of shows per year, which are generally comedies. Plays in the past were put on with smaller casts, however Milburn says they'd like to see the number of cast members increase for next year's productions.

Prior experience is not a requirement.

"We are a community theatre group so it's really just about getting people involved in a collaborative art form," commented Milburn. "You don't have to have any experience. You just have to want to have some fun!"

She adds the production they're planning this spring was written by a couple of their members and is all about Moose Jaw and its history.
