It’s not every day that you drive into work, look up into the morning sky, and see a giant fireball.

But that’s what happened to Moose Jaw’s Dacy Vance shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

She was driving north on Ninth Avenue North East and was turning on to Caribou Street when something caught her eye.

“Off into the distance by the Moose Jaw landfill, and I'm sure it went a lot further, there was a huge ball of fire fall from the Sky and it just broke up into a bunch of different pieces in the sky,” Vance said.

Vance didn’t have a dashcam and she said the phenomenon lasted only seconds so she didn’t have time to take a video or pictures.

“My first thought is meteorite and my worst fear is something like a plane,” she said.

Krysta Szilagy sent a message to Discover Moose Jaw to say she also witnessed the fireball while driving over the Fourth Avenue bridge. She described it as "green and bright" and it was "truly unique."

Cristina Cordick said she saw a fireball in the sky at 7 p.m. on Monday night while driving north on Ninth Avenue near William Grayson School.

While we have not confirmed that it was a meteorite, there have been three fireball sightings Tuesday morning according to the International Meteor Organization. The sightings were in Italy, United States and Great Britain.
