brad wall speech 2

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall has his sights locked on new rules in the United States when it comes to stimulus funding that is focused on "Buy American."

Premier Wall came out against protectionist American policies at the Pacific Northwest Economic Region's annual summit this week. He argues that Canada has worked hard for free trade with our neighbours to the south. Just two years ago, similar provisions were announced and some provinces were able to be excluded from those rules, only to face them again.

"The deal was done, Canada was exempt and then a couple years later we're back." lamented Wall. "That's very frustrating. It's frustrating especially given the fact that much was given up by province and municipalities and in two years it was forgotten."

Wall says trade is good for both countries and should be part of the solution to the American economic troubles.

The Premier also disagreed with those who said US President Barack Obama's administration was good for Canada, saying the facts say something different.
