Donald C. Winkler (Don) aged 81 years of Regina, formerly of Moose Jaw, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Regina Lutheran Care Home.  Don was born May 9, 1941 in Maple Creek, SK.  He was predeceased by his daughter Danette Winkler; parents Theodore and Susan Winkler; brothers Leonard (Maggie) Winkler, Dave (Sophie) Winkler and Walter (Viola) Winkler and sisters Freda (Bill) Christink, Pauline (Joe) Swatkoff, Dorothy (Vern) Sayler.  Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine (LeBrun) Winkler; son Daemon Walker (Dana Winkler) and daughter Darla Stroeder (Rod); his only grandchild, Sarah Stroeder; sister Evelyn Plummer (Bill); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Don and Elaine met and married in 1966 in Maple Creek.  In 1980 the family moved to Moose Jaw.  Don retired in 1994 after a long career with Canada Post and went on to work a part time maintenance position with Citizen’s All for 21 years. Don was a gifted musician and dancer. He played guitar in various bands and shared his love of music at home with his wife and children playing the keyboard. A talented carpenter, he built his first home, could fix almost anything, and was always helping neighbors with their projects.  He enjoyed traveling, genealogy, computers, camping, birdwatching, and playing tennis. Don was a big sports fan and loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays, the Roughriders and his favorite curling teams. He served as a board member for Providence Place and the Royal Canadian Legion.
