Local soldiers, who are training for a mission to Afghanistan, have returned home for the holidays and for some family time before they ship out.

Thursday was a very special day for several Moose Jaw families as members of the Saskatchewan Dragoons returned home from Manitoba.

The seven soldiers are home for the holidays after months of training for a mission to Afghanistan set for the New Year. Its called "embarkation leave' and it gives the soldiers time with their families before their tour of duty overseas.

The Dragoons have a special dinner planned for Saturday for the soldiers and their families.
