Elizabeth Ann Elsom (Clark) passed away peacefully in her home in Medicine Hat Alberta on March 4, 2023, surrounded by her family who cherished her. Elizabeth (Betty) was born at home on the family farm near Hart, SK on April 12, 1937. Her father once said Betty was the only thing on the farm that grew that year. She attended Clydesdale school and Clydesdale Church near the farm until the family bought a home on the east end of Moose Jaw so the kids could attend a bigger school. She attended Prince Arthur School and then went to high school at Tech (Peacock) graduating in 1955. She enjoyed playing basketball in high school and was in the commercial (clerical) program. During high school years she worked as an usher at the Studio Theatre. After high school she went to work as a secretary for Pacific Finance. Elizabeth married Charles Elsom on Oct 22, 1960, in a spectacular double wedding ceremony with her sister Shirley Clark marrying Gene Wenaas. Charles and Elizabeth farmed near Archydal for a few years after they were married and then purchased their own farm east of Boharm where they lived together until Charles death in 2002.
Elizabeth worked as a clerk for SGI Motor License for several years, worked as secretary for St Andrews United Church until 1984 and then was a secretary/receptionist for Thunder Creek Home Care where she worked until her retirement in 2002. Elizabeth remained on the farm until 2014 when she sold and moved into Moose Jaw.
Elizabeth was an active member of St. Andrews United Church since 1955 and was a tireless volunteer there, teaching Sunday School, serving on UCW, Grandmother’s for Grandmothers, attending bible study and singing in the choir. She was also a member of a community choir that performed Handel’s Messiah and was a member of Golden Voices.
In 2018 Elizabeth relocated to Medicine Hat Alberta so she could be closer to her three children.
