The big move is underway for the two pieces of equipment travelling down Highway 13, headed for the Chinook Power Station in Swift Current.

The two pieces are being moved on two trucks each, one pulling, and one pushing, and have a convoy of five pilot vehicles.

Richards Transport, the company behind the move, is asking motorists to avoid passing the slow-moving convoy, which is travelling at 40 km/h along the highways.

“They need to listen to the pilot car drivers, and they need to have patience because there is no passing room,” explained Cindy Lozinski with Richards Transport. “If they try to pass, they are not going to make it.”

To accommodate traffic which may be held up by the convoy, they will be pulling over every 10 kilometres to allow traffic to get by.

SaskPower is also on the scene assisting with the move, by ensuring overhead power lines are out of the way. Lozinski explained SaskPower vehicles will be using the ditch to get around, and they are the only ones allowed to do this.

The entire move is expected to take three days to complete, with the first leg completed on Monday.

On Tuesday the journey continued with hopes that the transport will be at La Fleche in the afternoon around 3:30pm and will rest there until they complete the part of the drive on Wednesday.
