Ernest Wayne Knarr Oct.23, 1948-Sept.16, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Knarr at the Central Butte Regency Manor with his family by his side. We would like to say a special thank you to the compassionate staff at the Regency Manor. Their incredible care and concern will not be forgotten.

Wayne was raised on the farm in the Eyebrow district and finished his days back in the area. Wayne attended school first in Eskbank and then in Brownlee. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie, and Ernie Knarr; in-laws Helen and Dal Cameron; daughter Dana (1989); brother-in-law Billy Cameron. Wayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marilyn; his children Eric and Laura; grandchildren Kylie and Cameron; brother-in-law, Doug (Linda) Cameron and many friends and relatives.

As an only child, Wayne embraced having a family of his own, which he would do anything for. He was an amazing father and grandfather; spending many hours driving to various activities and watching his children and grandchildren participating in whatever their interest was at the time.

Wayne had many interesting careers in his time, besides helping on the farm. He worked at an auto body shop in Moose Jaw, from there Wayne went to road construction. He was very proud of the roads he worked on. Wayne also drove trucks in Regina. Once married, Wayne and Marilyn moved to Thompson, Manitoba where he started with heavy equipment, then tried his hand in diamond drilling. He moved on to dispatching float planes at the river base on the Burntwood River. It was at Burntwood River where he found his true calling. He decided to apprentice as an aircraft mechanic for Lamb Air. Wayne received his license and began to work on endorsements for various aircraft from small to large passenger planes. Wayne moved to Norcan Air in Prince Albert. When the company moved to Saskatoon, he started the Government Air. Wayne moved to La Ronge where he found it exciting and rewarding working on various water bombers all over the north. When his parents were ready to retire and he did not want to see the farm sold, so he started farming in the summers and still working on planes in La Ronge during winter. When the family moved to the farm, he tried driving school bus, but his love for aircraft kept calling his name. Wayne went back to Saskatoon to work on planes. He worked for Trans West Air for many years where he finished his career as a crew chief. Over the years, Wayne mentored many young apprentice engineers.

Wayne always had a smile and a great sense of humor. He had many unique sayings, he told the kids he could fix anything, except the crack of dawn and a broken heart. Waynes last couple of years were difficult and in April 2021, he became a resident of Central Butte Regency Manor.

Wayne will be laid to rest in the Eyebrow Cemetery, next to his daughter Dana on Saturday September 24, 2022 at 2:30 pm. A celebration of life will follow at 3:00 pm in the Eyebrow Community Hall. In Lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Central Butte Regency Manor, Box 40. 601 Canada Street Central Butte, SK S0H 0T0
