Sadly, the Moose Jaw Miller Express’s seven-game win streak came to an end on the weekend, as they lost to both the Weyburn Beavers and the Swift Current 57s.

On Saturday, the Beavers exploded for six runs through the first six innings and didn’t look back, with the Millers only managing one run through six. Moose Jaw picked up three runs in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough losing to the Beavers 8-4.

Parker Dorrance led the way at the plate for the Millers going three-for-four. Brian Reyes, Nate Mensik, and Austin Gurney drove in the runs for the Miller Express.

Left-handed pitcher Andrew Barger took the loss going three innings, giving up two runs on two hits, and striking out one.

In a matinee affair with the Swift Current 57s on Sunday, the Millers once again were doubled up 8-4. The bats came alive on both sides as seven runs were scored in the first three innings of the game.

Cam Grant went two for four at the plate for Moose Jaw and Nate Mensik got a double in the loss.

Nick Hill takes the loss on the mound for the Miller Express pitching four and third innings, giving up three runs on two hits, and striking out six.

The loss ties Moose Jaw with the 57s for the top spot in the Western Canadian Baseball League East Division - both teams with 7 and 5 records.

Moose Jaw will continue their five-game homestand on Tuesday and Wednesday with back-to-back games against the Medicine Hat Mavericks – both games start at 7:05 p.m.
