It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin Ferraton, who died peacefully in Moose Jaw, SK on Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 at the age of 90. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Montmartre, SK. Father Fermo Aguinaldo will be the presiding celebrant and interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Montmartre, SK. The Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Father Carlos Jimenez officiating. Ben was predeceased by his loving wife, Rita on February 3rd, 2010; his parents, Jean-Baptiste and Rosine; his brothers: Regis, Marcel, Ludovic, Honore and Raoul; and his sister, Alice. A loving father and grandfather, he leaves to mourn his four daughters: Jacqueline (Geoff), Colette (Dennis) and grandchildren Robert (Rana) and Lisa, Yvette (Bill) and grandchildren David, Dominique and Michael, and Gisele (Brian); and numerous nieces and nephews. Ben was born on August 26th, 1921 in Montmartre, SK. On November 12th, 1945 he married Rita and they began their life together on the Ferraton family farm in Montmartre. Ben took great pride in all aspects of farming, in particular his crops and cattle. He had a great love for the land and was a good steward. In his retirement years, he and Rita resided at the Bentley in Moose Jaw. Upon Rita’s death he moved to Calgary and lived there for two years with his daughter Yvette, her husband Bill and their family.
