The first annual Canadian Tire Jumpstart Golf Tournament held last week at the Hillcrest Golf Club was a big success, even though it was cut short by thunderstorms.

"We had a great turnout this year," said owner Ross Leckie. "We had 80 golfers show up to the first annual golf tournament, and it turned out really well. We had a fantastic time and I think a lot of people really enjoyed themselves."

Preliminary figures show that the tournament raised about $4,500. All of the money will stay in Moose Jaw with Canadian Tire's Jumpstart charity, which helps kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and recreation.

"Thank you to the community," added owner Audrey Leckie. "The community was amazing, just their support for sponsorships and for coming out and golfing and donations. It was just a great community event."
